Ny brisDag Arnesens highly intelligent piano playing is firmly rooted in the American 1960s tradition, although on this record he shows a wider range of influences, such as fusion and tango. «Ny Bris» was the first «modern jazz» album to emerge from the active Bergen jazz community, and Arnesen's collaborators, among them saxophonist Olav Dale and trumpet player Per Jørgensen, are influential players on the Scandinavian jazz scene.
